Debbie Daniels
Debbie is a psychotherapist who began her career in counselling and psychotherapy over twenty years ago. She is the founder and director of a private counselling and psychotherapy service and manages a large team of counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists.
Debbie frequently works with clients who have become ‘stuck’ in their personal and professional lives. Clients present to her with a vision of what they would like to achieve and the intelligence and skills to reach their goals. Yet, in spite of all good intentions and a lot of determination, clients nevertheless find themselves returning to the same stuck point over and over again. They feel that something is getting in the way; it is as though two parts of the self are working against each other. Sometimes people describe this as having a ‘self-destruct button.’ In psychotherapy we see it that these two parts belong to the conscious and unconscious and they are constantly in conflict with each other
The unconscious contains our past, our history, often our unwanted feelings and memories. Our decisions today are not made in isolation; patterns are repeated, most usually from childhood, and it is essential to break the cycle of those patterns in order to move on. Much can be achieved through psychotherapy; a challenging and often difficult journey, but one that is also exciting, stimulating and utterly illuminating.
Debbie has dual UKCP registration as a psychoanalytic and an integrative psychotherapist. She is a director, a university lecturer, a published author, a clinical supervisor and a PhD researcher.
